About Us
Origins
Pandel's origins stem from its parent company, Pandel Bradford, headquartered in Lowell, MA. In the fifties and sixties, the company was renowned for manufacturing vinyl synthetic footwear materials; one of its more well-known product offerings was the white Go-Go boot material that Goldie Hawn helped make famous on the television show "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In". By the late sixties, however, Pandel's owners realized that the shoe business was moving offshore, so in 1969, Pandel Bradford moved part of the Lowell operation to Cartersville, GA., with a mission to develop new product lines.

One of the first carpet tile manufacturers in the USA

One of their first ventures in Georgia was to develop a vinyl-backed carpet tile for commercial offices. Renowned Chinese-born architect I. M. Pei designed the first carpet tile office building in the United States. Pandel was awarded the carpet tile contract due to Pei's selection of Pandel's backing system as the material of choice.

Pandel Bradford merges with Compo Industries and is taken public
In the seventies, Pandel Bradford merged with Compo Industries. The company continued to produce carpet tile, performing commission backing for a number of broadloom carpet manufacturers. Toward the end of the decade, Compo acquired a vinyl production line from Rubbermaid. That line allowed Pandel to venture into the vinyl anti-fatigue business. Pandel also produced desk blotters and typewriter pads from the same line, growing it to a multimillion dollar business.

Compo Industries sold to Italian owned Aussimont
In the early eighties, Compo Industries was acquired by the Italian company Aussimont, owner of the largest carpet tile manufacturer in the world, Heuga. Pandel continued to operate as Heuga's American manufacturing division, producing carpet tile for retail establishments.

1988 - Interface Inc., purchases Heuga
In 1988, Ray Anderson and Interface Inc., acquired Heuga, a European carpet tile manufacturer twice their size. Along with the purchase came Heuga's American operation, Pandel. The carpet tile backing lines at Pandel were moved to LaGrange, GA., and the mission to develop new product lines was once again revived.

2007 - Pandel Management purchases Company
In March of 2007, the management of Pandel purchased the company from Interface Inc. Looking toward the future, Pandel remains a world leader in the manufacture and distribution of vinyl anti-fatigue matting, static dissipative matting, fitness matting, industrial noise insulation products, low-density foams/gasket materials and industrial flooring materials.
